COACHING

Professional Performing Arts Coach

CIRCUS, PUPPETRY, PERFORMANCE

I work with professional performing artists at the highest levels, to guide and enhance performances.

For Cirque du Soleil, I was the artist-coach for puppetry, leading a team of puppeteers over a period of more than two years to deliver world-class performances in a physically demanding show with very challenging puppets.

I also work with professionals in training through university and higher education programmes, as well as on a one-to-one basis, offering coaching both in person and over zoom. This includes offering career development and sustainability coaching to emerging professionals, as well as coaching drama school and conservatory applicants on their audition material.

Puppetry Director

I was appointed Artist-Coach for puppetry on Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Toruk’ in 2017, and in this role was responsible for managing a team of puppeteers and for maintaining and developing the standard of puppetry in the show. Prior to this, I held the position of Puppetry Captain on the same show.

I have also worked collaboratively to develop and evolve puppetry work with leading family theatre company Stuff and Nonsense, and am a visiting lecturer in puppetry at the University of Chichester.

Puppetry Coaching

The organizations I have worked for include: Stagecoach Theatre Schools, Brighton and Hove Youth Circus, The Princes Trust, South East National Dance Agency, The University of Chichester, and The Beacon Arts Junior and Youth Theatres. I have also run workshops on behalf of Cirque du Soleil outreach.

Performing Arts Coaching for Children, Young People & Enthusiasts

I have a strong belief in the ability of the performing arts to build confidence, create social awareness, increase our powers of communication and contribute to happy, healthy lifestyles.

Over the years I have taught both adults and children across a wide range of performing arts.

Currently I coach aerial circus both privately and through a range of scheduled classes at Believe Studios in Los Angeles.

Both in-person and zoom sessions are available, and love watching my students grow in confidence and aptitude, and develop their range.

Fitness Coaching in Los Angeles

As a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, I work with a small number of clients towards achieving their fitness goals.

I meet every client exactly where they are, and particularly love working with those coming back to fitness after a long break.

I help to motivate, guide and drive their fitness journey.

KIND WORDS

Helen is awesome! You won’t be disappointed. She puts you through your paces but isn’t a drill sergeant. Her kind and thoughtful personality tailors sessions to just what you need.
— Victoria A.
I am in my 70s, and although I have been active all my life I have never worked out. Since I have been training with Helen, I feel much stronger and more confident in my movement. Helen always comes to our sessions with a smile on her face, and working out with her lifts my spirits. She makes it fun, and I really look forward to our sessions.
— Joyce S.H.
I struggle to motivate myself and rarely enjoy any form of exercise and it seemed that no trainer could inspire me. After working with Helen I am consistent with my workout commitments and I look forward to pushing myself now that I have been able to achieve fitness goals I thought were impossible.
— Sara A.
